Comfort Emmanson, the passenger at the center of the viral Ibom Air in-flight incident, has regained her freedom after being released from Kirikiri Prison.
Her release followed the withdrawal of charges by both the complainant and Ibom Air, which led an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court in Ogba to discharge the case. The development comes after weeks of public outcry and debate over her arrest and detention.
Shortly after her release, Emmanson took to Instagram to confirm the news, writing: “I’ve been released from the prison, but I’m still in pains due to how I was treated. I just need some rest and medical treatment before I give out my own version of the event.”
The case had sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians questioning the handling of the situation and demanding justice. Her detention became a trending topic, drawing sympathy and calls for her immediate freedom.
While Emmanson says she is relieved to be out, she also revealed that she is still recovering from the physical and emotional toll of the ordeal. She promised to share her full account of what happened after getting medical attention and rest.
Her release marks a major twist in one of Nigeria’s most talked-about controversies of 2025, but the story is far from over as the public now awaits her side of the incident.
