Blackout in Nigeria after Collapse of National Grid
Are you experiencing power outage in your area at the moment? Then you may have to wait for some time, as the outage is due to the collapse of the national grid, which occurred around 11:00 am on Wednesday. It is said to have emanated from Shiroro dam in Niger State.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, a purely government outfit that supplies power to power distribution companies, stated this in a statement signed by Ndidi Mbah, it’s spokesperson. Mbah said the cause was also being investigated.
He also said the system collapse has affected Osogbo and Lagos areas. But distribution companies like that of Kaduna have already intimated their customers of the impact.
The TCN has, therefore, pleaded with consumers to exercise patience as it works to rectify the problem.
