APC Rejects Ondo Assembly Election Results

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ondo State, rejected the House of Assembly election in the state on Tuesday, saying it did not reflect the wishes of the citizens of the state.

In a statement issued in Akure, the state capital, Isaac Kekemeke, state chairman of the APC, said the results showed that the people of the state had been short-changed.

“The party would challenge the results in court, I promise that every lawful means would be employed to retrieve the stolen mandates,” Kekemeke said.

He alleged that the election witnessed open inducement of voters and the use of thugs and intimidation. “Never in the history of Ondo State has any election been fraught with as much brigandage, armed thugs, open inducement of voters before and during the election,” Kekemeke said.

He also noted that “the election witnessed ballot snatching and stuffing, open and shameless bribing of local election officials and ad hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission, changing of election results, change of election venue and mass thumb printing.”
