AFRIMA unveils 2015 award nominees’ list

The international committee of the All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA, has revealed the nominees’ list for AFRIMA 2015 edition in a press conference on Friday, August 14, 2015, at Victoria Crown Plaza hotel, Lagos. Mike Dada, the president of AFRIMA, together with some jury members of the award-giving body, revealed some of the nominees for this year’s edition of the awards and the categories for which they are nominated.AFRIMA

The various categories on the list are, best female artist in Central Africa, best female artist in Eastern Africa; best male artist in Eastern Africa; best female artist in Northern Africa as well as best male artist in Northern Africa. Others include, best female artist in Southern Africa; best male artist in Southern Africa; best female artist in West Africa, best Male Artist in West Africa, among others.

The nominees for the Album of the Year include Nigeria’s Wizkid, P-Square, Yemi Alade, Brymo and Flavour. There are also Charlotte Dipanda and Mami Bella from Cameroon, Alikiba of Tanzania, Alsarah and Nubatones from Sudan and Wiyaala from Ghana.

Those nominated for the Song of the Year category are Davido and Meek Mill, Yemi Alade, Wizkid and P-Square, Sakordie and Castro from Ghana, Charlotte Dipanda from Cameroon, DJ Jose Chameleone from Uganda, Alikiba and Diamond Platnumz fromTanzanian.

Those that made the Artist of the Year category are Yemi Alade, Wizkid, Olamide, Flavour and Davido; Alikiba, Diamond Platnumz, Charlotte Dipanda, Dr Jose Chameleone and Sarkodie.

Meanwhile, Dada said that the other nominees would be announced in due course while the awards ceremony would hold on November 15, 2015 in Nigeria.

This year’s edition of the awards is in partnership with the African Union Commission, ONE Campaign and Africa 2.0.
