9th Coronation Anniversary: Oba of Benin To Host Royal Family, Chiefs, Market Women And Others

The Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, will on Monday October 20, 2025, fete members of the Benin Royal family, Chiefs, Ikao, Igiohen, Edionwere, Okaighele, and market women as part of activities to commemorate his 9th coronation anniversary.

The day also marks Oba Ewuare’s 72nd birthday.

The invitation was contained in a public announcement by the palace signed by Frank Irabor, secretary to the Benin Traditional Council (BTC).

The statement said the feast would be held at the palace ground at 1 pm.

Oba Ewuare 11 was crowned the 40th Oba of Benin on October 20, 2016, and presented with his staff of office at a colourful ceremony which was witnessed by the then Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; erstwhile governor, Adams Oshiomhole; and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja 11, among other dignitaries.
