A dispute over a farmland in Igga between the Eggon and Gwandara ethnic groups, both in Nasarawa-Eggon Local Government Area of Nasarawa State took a bloody turn on Saturday, leaving five persons dead and several others injured.
The Nasarawa State Police Command confirmed in a statement today that no fewer than five persons died in the renewed ethnic clash between the two warring communities in the state.
Umar Ismaila, the State Police Public Relations Officer said the police was able to promptly restore peace in the area following a timely distress call from a witness.
Umar admonished citizens in the area to desist from taking the laws into their own hands, emphasising that security personnel in the state are always on top of security issues. He made it known that investigation into the crisis has commenced and no stone would be left unturned.
