Saturday’s volcanic eruption in Japan has claimed the lives of 30 hikers close to the topmost part of Mount Ontake.
The hikers were found lifeless when rescuers got to the scene.
The eruption happened at a distant 200km west of Tokyo. Reports revealed that over 200 people were caught up and trapped in the inclines. However, most of them have been able to move down unhurt.
As at Sunday morning, Japanese officials declared that 30 were still missing or may have been buried by ashes.
Associated Press reports that military helicopters and some officials, Sunday morning, have been making efforts to help others who are still trapped make their way down the mountain.
